Counting Crows' Traveling Circus and Medicine Show featuring Augustana is set to arrive at the MAC on August 23.
In early 1993 Counting Crows recorded their debut album August and Everything After and became an overnight sensation a year later after filling in for an absent Van Morrison at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. Their debut album contained such hits as "Mr. Jones," "Round Here," "Omaha," and "Anna Begins." In 1996 came their second album Recovering the Satellites with "A Long December," which was a Top 10 hit on both the Modern Rock and Adult Top 40 charts. This Desert Life, the band's third studio album, arrived in 1999 and then Hard Candy in 2002 with the title track and "American Girls." In 2004 Counting Crows reminded fans of their ability to write a hit single with "Accidentally in Love," which appeared on the Shrek 2 soundtrack. Their most recent album effort is Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings, which was released in March 2008.
Augustana was formed in southern Illinois in 2002 before making the move to Los Angeles in 2004 and releasing their first major-label debut album All the Stars and Boulevards. The hit single "Boston" from that album was featured on an episode of Scrubs in 2006. Eventually the album made its way into the Billboard Top 40. In 2008 Augustana released their most recent album Can't Love, Can't Hurt.
